Full Process Details

Graduates register

Eligible graduates register profiles through the official To The Power of X² platform and upload required supporting documents, which must be clear, complete and legible to support verification.

Employers register workplace opportunities

Public and private-sector employers identify the number of graduates they can host, workplace locations, and the qualifications or skills required.

Workplaces are approved

Prospective host workplaces undergo an approval process before placement, including applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and COIDA compliance requirements, confirmation of appropriate supervision, and confirmation that meaningful workplace experience can be provided.

Graduates are matched

Eligible profiles are matched against approved workplace opportunities, considering qualification, field of study, employer requirements, location and available capacity.

Placements begin

Successfully matched graduates enter a structured 24-month internship supported by workplace supervision and mentorship. The first cohort is expected to commence from September 2026, with placements increasing progressively as workplaces are approved and suitable matches are completed.

Participants are supported

Placed participants receive programme and workplace support throughout their internship. African Global Skills Academy is the Services SETA-appointed Programme Management Unit and manages operational implementation and participant administration on behalf of Services SETA.

Registration does not guarantee placement. Placement is subject to programme eligibility, the availability of suitable approved workplace opportunities and successful matching with host employer requirements.

For Employers

The To The Power of X² Programme is funded by Services SETA and managed by African Global Skills Academy (AGSA) as the appointed Programme Management Unit. Eligible employers across South Africa may express interest in hosting graduates for a 24-month internship. Submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) is the first step in the Host Employer process — applications are reviewed and verified, and employers meeting programme requirements proceed through applicable due diligence and workplace approval before graduates can be matched and placed.

This application is intended for corporate and private-sector employers. It does not apply to placements with government departments through the Office of the Premier (OTP) channel, which follows a separate process — government departments applying through the Office of the Premier should contact African Global Skills Academy for guidance.

Prepare

Review the employer eligibility and application information, and prepare the required supporting documents ahead of time.

Submit Expression of Interest

Complete one Expression of Interest for the employer or entity seeking to host graduates.

Review & Verification

The application and submitted information are reviewed and verified by African Global Skills Academy.

Due Diligence / Workplace Approval

Employers meeting programme requirements proceed through the applicable due diligence and workplace approval process.

Matching & Placement

Approved host employers may proceed to graduate matching and placement, subject to programme requirements and availability.

Submission of an Expression of Interest does not constitute approval and does not guarantee the allocation of graduates.

Each Expression of Interest must be submitted for one employer only and may not represent or aggregate multiple employers. A registered Skills Development Provider (SDP) may apply on behalf of, or in partnership with, a single employer, but a separate application is required for each employer it supports. Only one active application may be maintained per employer at a time — duplicate or additional applications for an employer with an application already in progress will not be processed.

Information submitted is subject to verification by African Global Skills Academy. By proceeding with an application, the applicant confirms that they are duly authorised to act on behalf of the employer named in the application and to provide the submitted information.
