What is To The Power of X²?
To The Power of X² is a national Services SETA initiative creating 20 000 structured, 24-month internship opportunities for eligible unemployed graduates across South Africa. It connects graduate talent with workplace opportunities across the public and private sectors.
How long is the internship?
Successfully matched graduates enter a structured 24-month internship, supported by workplace supervision and mentorship.
Does registration guarantee placement?
No. Registration does not guarantee placement. Placement is subject to programme eligibility, the availability of suitable approved workplace opportunities and successful matching with host employer requirements.
What documents will I need?
Graduates are required to upload supporting documents as part of registration. These must be clear, complete and legible to support verification. A detailed list of required supporting documents will be published when confirmed — see the Required Documents page.
How are graduates matched?
Eligible profiles are matched against approved workplace opportunities, considering qualification, field of study, employer requirements, location and available capacity.
When will placements begin?
The first cohort is expected to commence from September 2026. Placements increase progressively as workplaces are approved and suitable matches are completed.
Who manages the programme?
African Global Skills Academy is the Services SETA-appointed Programme Management Unit, responsible for operational implementation and participant administration on behalf of Services SETA.

Who can submit an Employer Expression of Interest?
The Expression of Interest is intended for corporate and private-sector employers. It does not apply to placements with government departments through the Office of the Premier (OTP) channel, which follows a separate process — government departments applying through the Office of the Premier should contact African Global Skills Academy for guidance.
Does submitting an EOI guarantee graduates?
No. Submission of an Expression of Interest does not constitute approval and does not guarantee the allocation of graduates.
Can one Expression of Interest cover multiple employers?
No. Each application relates to one employer or entity. A separate application is required for each employer.
Can a Skills Development Provider apply on behalf of an employer?
A registered Skills Development Provider (SDP) may apply on behalf of, or in partnership with, a single employer, but may not aggregate multiple employers into one application. Where an SDP supports more than one employer, a separate application is required for each employer.
Can an employer submit more than one application?
Only one active application may be maintained per employer at a time. Duplicate or additional applications for an employer with an application already in progress will not be processed.
What format must employer documents be uploaded in?
PDF format.
What is the maximum file size for employer documents?
8 MB per individual document. If a file is larger than 8 MB, it must be compressed before upload.
What happens after an employer submits an Expression of Interest?
The application and submitted information are reviewed and verified. Employers meeting programme requirements proceed through the applicable due diligence and workplace approval process before graduates can be matched and placed.
